Important Benefit Reminders
As we head into summer, we wanted to remind you about three important programs offered through the Health and Benefit Trust Fund.
When Was Your Last Annual Physical/Wellness Visit?
It can be easy to skip your regular checkups with your doctor. Many of us only remember to go to the doctor when we’re under the weather or need something. And, during the COVID-19 pandemic, many people skipped their regular annual physicals altogether.
But preventive care is an important and valuable part of your healthcare. Regular physical checkups and appropriate screenings can help you and your doctor detect illness early. It’s also a great opportunity to talk to your doctor about your concerns and questions.
Check out this flyer from Anthem with tips on what to expect at your appointment and how to prepare for your next check-up.
And remember to review your preventive care benefits offered by the Fund.

Do You Take Specialty Medications? We Have a Program to Help You.
A specialty medication is a prescription drug that is either a self-administered (non-diabetic) injectable medication; a medication that requires special handling, special administration, or monitoring; or, is a high-cost oral medication.
Specialty medications are used to treat patients with complex and/or rare diseases like cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, or multiple sclerosis; have special dosage, storage, handling, and administration requirements; and require involved patient care and monitoring services (eg, transplant, oncology, MS, hepatitis). Specialty medications are often not available at retail pharmacies and require special care when being shipped.
OptumRx, which administers our prescription drug benefits, has a Specialty Pharmacy. It offers personalized support as well as in-home infusion help.
You can read more about this program in this flyer from OptumRx and get information about your prescription drug benefits generally on our site.
